The Philosopher’s Path “哲学の道 (Tetsugaku no michi)” is a pleasant stone path through the northern part of Kyoto. It follows a canal which is lined by hundreds of cherry trees! One of most populart cherry-blossom viewing spots.
These are one of most popular cherry trees, which is called “Somei-Yoshino” (Cerasus × yedoensis (Matsum.) A.V.Vassil. ‘Somei-yoshino’). It is typical that the flower of Somei-Yoshino change from pink to whitish pink in color with the coming close to full bloom.
There are various kinds of cherry trees along the path.
As every season seems best to us in its turn,
so the coming in of spring is like the creation of Cosmos out of Chaos and the realization of the Golden Age.
