“Sunomono” Vinegared Salad of Cucumber & Seaweed

“Su-no-mono” means vinegared food, it’s popular for side dish of Washoku.

Leave sliced cucumbers with salt for a few minutes, then drain and toss with rice vinegar, soy sauce, dashi broth, a little bit of sugar and pounded sesame “Suri-Goma”.

Cucumber is written “胡瓜” in Kanji, and sesame is “胡麻”.  Both 胡瓜 and 胡麻 have a character “胡”, which means the ancient country in China.
