Chaliapin Steak – “Yoshoku” cooking –
Chaliapin Steak was named after Feodor Chaliapin, a Russian opera singer.
Chaliapin Steak is known a kind of Yoshoku. In 1936 a chef of Teikoku Hotel (Imperial Hotel) in Tokyo devised a way to cook a steak to be extra tender for Chaliapin, who was suffering from a toothache.
