Vinegared Sea Pineapple “Hoya”

This is an edible ascidian also known as sea squirt, which is called “Hoya” in Japanese.
Mainly it is eaten in the northern coast of the Tohoku region, which consists of the northeastern portion of Honshu, the largest island of Japan. Especially it is popular in Miyagi pref. that has Ishinomaki fishing port.
(It seems like a “Anpanman” or “Kanegon” for me. They are heroes of Japanese animation pictures. )
