Salt-Grilled “Hakkaku” Sailfin Poacher Fish

“Hakkaku” mainly refers to male, its formal Japanese name is “Tokubire”.

Sailfin poacher fish (Podothecus sachi) is commonly called “Hakkaku”, that live in the cold sea.  So it is not popular in western Japan.

“Hakkaku” is written “八角” literally “octagon shape”.  It is also known “Tokubire” written “特鰭” literally “special fin”, because the pectorals are large.
