“Hiratake” Oyster Mushroom Spaghetti
This edible mushroom has been popular to Japanese people since ancient times.
Oyster Mushroom is called “Hiratake”, written “平茸” in Kanji literally “flat mushroom”.
It has been popular since ancient times in Japan, and it appeared in the “Konjaku-Monogatari” (Anthology of Tales from the Past, written around the 12th century).
Episode in volume 28 is the following.
A bureaucrat fell into a deep valley bottom along with his horse. Nobody thought he would be alive, but he was survived with a lot of “Hiratake” hunted by himself.
It’s a parable about the human acquisitiveness.
Eryngii (Pleurotus eryngii) is the same family with oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus).
Both are popular cultivated edible mushrooms in the world.
Fry “Hiratake”, onion, and canned tuna with garlic, chili pepper and olive oil.
Then pour vegetable soup and white wine, and simmer for a few minute.
Add boiled spaghetti into fry-pan, Kansei!!
